I just got back from Washington DC where I attended the national MPP and FSFL training meetings and am now working on preparing for our state wide training meetings.
The SED's were also in DC that week attending the training meeting as well as thier own managment meetings. We all had the pleasure of having Secretary Vilsack come and thank us for all that we have accomplished and the work that we do. He was very appreciative or our efforts. The Bridges to Opportunity task force continues to be a high priority. Oregon and Minnesota have held their initial stakeholder meetings and Connecticut, North Carolina and Texas will be having theirs in the near future. A new task force was also started on how we move to a paperless system. Myself, Denise Lickteig from Nebraska and Jessica Davis from Idaho will be serving on this task force. Please contact us with your thoughts and suggestions on what you would like to see in a paperless system. The National Office has also provided us with a update on the automation systems. This has been posted to the nacs-fsa.org web site under new postings. Courtney Dixon and her staff have indicated that they will be providing these on a regular basis in the future. So please check the website periodically for updates! Chris Beyerhelm just held a teleconference with all of the FLP Chiefs so please visit with them about what was covered. It looks like there will be a national FLP training meeting coming up in October. The chiefs will be asking for field staff input and possible attendance. Please contact any of the board if you have questions. Tanya Dostal NACS President

President’s Update #2
Welcome to the middle of summer! I hope you are able to get out and see the fruits of the crop season. We want to wish Juan Garcia our Administrator a very happy retirement. He has been a true friend to our association and his insight and knowledge of our programs down to the detail level was critical in understanding how our workload is. He will be missed by our board. Currently we have many members serving on various task forces. They are as follows: Payment Processing Task force: Ryan Lukassen, Lisa Gibbs, Heather Cox and Mark Drewitz. Management Training Task Force: Stu Skidmore Bridges to Opportunity Meetings in the states of: Minnesota, Oregon, Texas, Connecticut, and North Carolina FSA Service Delivery Task Force: Allen Hall FLOT Hiring Questionnaire Task Force: Maureen Mausbach I must say I don’t believe NACS has been involved in so many different task forces at one time in the past. This truly shows that the Management Team wants our local perspective in developing policies and processes of the future. The resolutions that were adopted at the convention have now been posted to the NACS website. Please review them and as always when you see new challenges and changes needed submit a new resolution. The committee’s will be discussing these with the Management team later this fall. Thank you for your responses regarding the convention planning. We are currently getting bids from Omaha, St. Louis and Denver and the convention committee will be making their selection soon. Please contact me if I can answer any questions!
