Greetings NACS members! Happy fiscal year end! As I write this update, I am happy to know Congress has agreed to fund the government with a Continuing Resolution until December 11th to avert a government shutdown! Going into this next fiscal year, please feel free to contact myself or any member of the Board with any growing concerns you have for us to address with the National Office Leadership. Last month, the Board approved John Gehrke and Ben Herink to attend the National Rural Lenders Association (NRLA) National Convention in Washington, D.C. On September 23, 2015, NACS hosted the inaugural Agricultural Lending Forum at the McAllister & Quinn (M&Q) offices in Washington, D.C. This roundtable discussion was brought together by M&Q and the NACS Legislative Committee. John Gehrke, NACS Vice President, also played a vital role in the success of this meeting. Attendees at the forum included lead executive and legislative leadership from the following agricultural partner groups: American Bankers Association (ABA) Farm Credit Council Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA) NACS National Rural Lenders Association (NRLA) National Young Farmers Coalition Sustainable Ag Coalition This is believed to be the first time these groups have been present at the same discussion group. The participants sought to collaborate on priority issues in order to find common ground legislatively. We believe this was accomplished. A more detailed review of this meeting will be sent to membership at a later date. On the following day, Ben Herink, John Gehrke, and Andy Quinn were also invited to attend the inaugural National Convention of the NRLA held at the Farmer Mac offices in Washington D.C. Ben Herink, NACS Legislative Chairperson, was a guest speaker at the event to present on who NACS is, our mission, and how we can partner with groups, such as NRLA, in the future. Jim Radintz, Acting Deputy Administrator for Farm Loan Programs, was also a guest speaker at this event. Ben currently serves as a non-voting member on the Board of Directors for the NRLA. A more detailed article about the week's events will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. Lisa A. Liska NACS President
